My Life as a Uni Student [154]- Fun at the Peak! (Part 1)
10 Jan 2013
I am officially done with exams and I can now enjoy my short, short break. My coursemates and I went to Genting Highlands to enjoy the cold breeze and the exciting outdoor theme park games :D
In the morning, everyone was late but we still managed to catch the earliest bus :b It was funny how I got texts and calls telling 'us' that we should get on the train first when I was the only person waiting for the rest Haha
The journey to Genting Highlands scared me because the bus driver was driving as if the brake had broken down. We got off at the cable car entrance and I was super stoked that I saw this familiar place. I had been here 6 years ago and coming back here again just makes me happy. Jon Fhat brought a bag of groceries cos three of them planned to stay back, probably spend the night at the hotel lobby, and go back to Bukit Jalil the next day. Rosalind and I had no plans to stay back though. I'd rather go back to my apartment so that I have a proper place to sleep.
The cable car behind remains the same but I'm all grown up now.
We took the escalator up and this is what you could see :D From what I remember everything looks the same!! MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES :D
Genting Skyway! (that's what we call the cable cars in Genting)
This is what the view looks like when we departed :D
Check out what I saw from the cable car :D
Everything looks tiny from above.

Reaching Genting Highlands!
The famous Genting logo :]

We were looking for First World Hotel/Plaza and as we stepped outside of the Skyway it was really windy and cold! :D I couldn't be happier about it Hehe Finally I can have some natural air.
This would be a statue that I found in one of the buildings as we were finding our way.
This is how First World Plaza looks on the inside. Pretty fancy, isn't it? :b It also includes an indoor theme park and it's also a shopping mall.

It was rather early when we reached First World so Rosalind and I thought that we could check out the casino first. We still needed to kill 30 minutes before we could enter the outdoor theme park. This is my first time entering a casino and it makes me feel like an adult! I was hoping the security wouldn't check my identification card but then they did D: I thought I look like an adult? Meh. I'll pick something more formal to wear next time, if I ever go to a casino again.
I wasn't allowed to take any photos of the casino but I still took one. I'm such a rebel. Walking around and observing the people in there can be quite fun. I always picture casino as a fancy place and everyone would dress like they're attending a ball. To my surprise, no one dresses like what I assume except for the security guards. Whaaaaat? Most people look really serious :O Gambling means winning or losing money so I guess they have to be serious about it.
We left after 20 minutes and walked to the outdoor theme park. This place never change Haha
Welcome to this fun city above the clouds people! :D
Jon Fhat had everything planned, especially about which rides to take first. This is what I used to play when I was 5 or 6 years old. I remember taking a picture with my daddy. Right now, it's just me and my backpack and we're flying in the air :b
This is my first time trying Bumper Boat! :D It wasn't as tiring or boring as I expected it to be. Our boats just collided against each others and it was silly. I was pretty sure I had zero skills at how to navigate the boat.
I also took some photos while riding on the boat. This colourful building would be First World Resort/Hotel :D I think it looks really pretty.
This is called the Flying Coaster. It's just..scary Haha It lifts you up to 20 meters and fly over 391 meters. It's considered as a newer thrill ride on Genting.
Later we went to check out other fun rides but they're closed down for maintenence. What a bummer! So we went back to the place where we had our first ride to look for other cool stuff!

Luckily we still found something else to play. We sat in a car and it took us into a dark tunnel. I was prepared to be scared by something creepy but nothing happened. Rosalind kept telling me to warn her if I saw anything creepy. I couldn't see a single thing. When I got off the car I felt dizzy because the route was windy and they had neon lights going on and off in there Lol Silly ride!!
We also went on the pirate ship! :D The view was amazing when the pirate ship swing really high up! I was so glad I chose the seat that's right at the end Hahaha :b
After these fun rides I went to take a photo of the hotel but my hair in the photo turned out to be rather weird O_o I blame it on the wind.
Since I'm in Genting, how could I miss out Corkscrew? :b I didn't! Jon Fhat, Rosalind and I went on this double-loop roller coaster and defied gravity. (You can see how it looks if you scroll down to the last photo)
My coursemates would like to try out Fun Kart but I wasn't really into it so they went to queue up while I spent some time taking photos :D

I enjoyed walking around and taking some time off. Exams were stressful but right now it's all over. I love the cold breeze and the view. I felt like I was in a different world and I don't have anything to worry about :] It's been so, so long since I had so much fun. I was really relaxed and calm and I hope that I could stay this way until the end of Semester 6 :b Semester 5 was all about proposals and literature review and pilot study. Although I wasn't as anxious as I used to be, I can still feel the pressure because I'm already in my final year. Taking time off to a place which is cooling can be quite therapeutic :]
I couldn't be more grateful that my coursemates would ask me to join them and we actually made it to Genting Highlands. This is the first time we hang out together since Semester 2 where we went for a movie. I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did :]
I'll have Part 2 up as soon as possible.
p/s: It feels GREAT to be back to Buzznet again! :D
